LIFE'S LITTLE DETAILS

"THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN." — CHARLES EAMES

Happy Wednesday, m' dears! I apologize for the sudden blog hiatus last week. I had big plans to post as usual, but then life started happening and it was clear there would be no time to write or create as I typically do in the afternoons. Today's post will be short and sweet as I'm patiently waiting for Flyboy. He's on his way home from a five-day trip to Missouri where he participated in an air show (And got to hang with my sister!!) in our college town of Columbia. M-I-Z! Come on, where m' tigers at?! Anyone?!

Anywho, the old adage "anything that can go wrong will go wrong" was in full effect. Thanks for nothing, Murphy! Somehow Max, Beesly, and I ended up with a nasty stomach bug over a period of  seven days. It's true, I've cleaned up more vomit in the past week than I care to admit! To make matters worse, Flyboy had to leave for his trip on our 9th wedding anniversary (A major celebratory bummer!). Yes, for this Debbie Downer, it felt like everyone and their mother opted to get the hell out of Dodge for the long weekend besides us (FOMO = giant understatement) and they were SOOOO smart for planning ahead. I mean, who wants to deal with more threats of hail storms and hour-long power outages in the company of a neurotic dog and spastic toddler anyway?!

Needless to say, we survived with the help of daily Starbucks runs (Yes, Whole30 is still happening over here. Sigh.), frequent walks and bike rides, trips into town for made-up errands (How many times can one find a reason to go to Walmart—just for funsies?!), an outdoor movie (More on that tomorrow!), a kiddie pool of water, lots of bug spray, and far more episodes of Caillou than I was prepared to endure (Seriously though, where's the gin?). While I know these first-world problems are laughable in the big scheme of things and I feel like a real jerk for even sharing this, I'm just being honest over here. I've never been one to wish away a long weekend, but after this last one I'm so ready for our next chapter—wherever the Air Force decides to take us next. There's so much life to live and I'm over the monotony of the hamster wheel. I want to share new experiences with my people and get lost in a new adventure. This change I crave won't come anytime soon (Maybe we'll find out our next assignment later this Summer??), but it's fun to think about. In the meantime, you can find yours truly searching for new ways to shake things up in Swell Rio in an effort to make more memories—preferably sans projectile vomit and a MIA husband, but beggars can't be choosers.

Well, that's enough from me. How are you doing? How was your Memorial Day Weekend?! I'm dying to know.
