"THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN." — CHARLES EAMES
It's been almost a week since Max and I said good-bye to my parents after spending 13 glorious days together. I still can't explain WHY it's so difficult to collect my thoughts, but I feel incredibly grateful for the chance to make more memories with them this summer. It wasn't always part of our plan, but I'm really glad we made it happen. Simply put, the past two weeks were magical—a gift I'll treasure forever! And at the risk of sounding super cheesy, my sister and I have come to the conclusion we hit the jackpot with our parents. Little did we know watching them become grandparents would only sweeten the deal. Gah! Be still my heart. This October Max has officially been part of our family for TWO whole years and I think the more time goes by, the more awestruck I become as I watch this human exclamation point steal the hearts of those dearest to me. It doesn't get any better than that! While museum hopping and endless afternoons spent shopping (we hit every J.Crew in the Beltway...) take the cake, I know it's the little details from our trip I'll cling to the most—like the pride I felt going to school with my mom, or the silly smirk on my dad's face as he struggled to open a pesky bag of potato chips, and Max's evening timeout on a chillaxed Gampy's lap. This is the good stuff.
