Torn Cardboard by Ibon Mainar |
FEELING: We've had so many grey days, I found myself wishing for a little rain. If it's going to be gloomy, you might as well have a reason to throw on your wellies and whip out your most colorful umbrella. Am I right? They kept predicting it in the forecast, but no dice. Then on Wednesday it poured. Yahoo! Whenever I slip on my rain boats, I can't help but feel childlike and carefree. I suddenly have the urge to stomp around in puddles, twirl my umbrella, and pretend I'm dancing alongside Gene Kelly in Singin' in the Rain.
READING: It's no secret I'm obsessed with Danielle Kroll's illustrations, so I jumped for gin when I read about her collaboration with Stephanie Rosenbaum in The Art of Vintage Cocktails. You can bet I ordered a copy. I can't wait to dive in and maybe even dabble with a few of the recipes. I have a feeling this book is going to be a bar cart necessity!
THINKING ABOUT: Pippa Middleton's latest confession regarding her royal wedding dress is absolute hogwash. With a caboose that cute, I don't think I'd EVER admit the dress fit too well. I'd flaunt that phenomenal backside. These are deep thoughts, I'm aware...
EATING: Earlier this week, we received a big box from my Grandma and it was filled to the brim with her freshly-baked sugar cookies. I'm just going to throw this out there—no one makes sugar cookies quite like her. It's true! The thinness would make Martha Stewart envious. How DOES she do it? They're so tasty and dainty, which makes them perfect with tea or for dunking into a class of milk.
WATCHING: On Saturday night, Flyboy and I watched a preview of NBC's newest sitcom, About A Boy. Did you watch it? I loved the 2002 movie with Hugh Grant and I simply adore Minnie Drive, so I figured it was worth a shot. While the story is somewhat predictable, the dynamics between the main characters, Will and Marcus, is heartwarming. Catch the premiere episode here!
LOVING: I was on the MoMA tumblr this week and I was so excited to learn about the work of Ibon Mainar (as seen above). How gorgeous are his collages? When I saw the abstract and colorful landscapes, I couldn't help but think of Mark Rothko's paintings.
What about you? How are you feeling today? What are you up to?
