FEELING: The moving company sent a representative to the house yesterday to survey our household goods, and I turned in my two-weeks notice at work. Holy buckets! Things around here are getting real; this move is happening! I typically love the fall, namely the months of September and October, but for the past few weeks I've wanted to avoid September's arrival. I knew once it was here, our days in Hawaii were numbered and the weeks leading up to our departure would pass quickly. Thankfully, the details are all starting to come together, which makes our exit from the island feel a little less painful. As we check items off our to-do list, the big picture starts to make sense and we can finally begin to think about all of the great things that will come with this move. As we close this chapter, it's nice to have something to look forward to. Stay tuned, I'll share more details with you next week!
LISTENING TO: As I pen this post, I hear about a dozen fans whirring throughout the house. The trade winds have died off, and I haven't stopped sweating since I woke up this morning. I guess it's Lil Puna's norm this time of year; Hawaii's predictable 88-degree weather heats up a few degrees and it feels ridiculously warm. The only thing that's keeping my mind off the temp is the sound of Tripp having a dream. Whenever this happens, everything STOPS and I stare at him as he chases an imaginary tennis ball and he whimpers sweetly. Since he was five years old when we adopted him, little moments like this allow me to picture what he was like when he was a puppy. Adorable, natch!
THANKFUL FOR: I'm someone who likes to control her emotions and excitement. It's not often that I just let myself go and be uninhibited. That all changed earlier this week when I found out that Domino Magazine relaunches this fall as a quarterly magazine and e-commerce site. Dust off your dancing shoes and let the happy dances ensue! After four years of suffering, I couldn't be more excited to add updated and upcoming issues to my coveted collection.
THINKING ABOUT: I own the blogging tee featured above, and it makes me giggle. Upon seeing it in my drawer earlier this week, I started to get a little misty-eyed and overwhelmed. It made me feel like a fraud. I mean, I missed a post on Tuesday. I NEVER do that unless I take time off for vacation! Keeping up with LIFE, ironing out the details of the move, working, and finding time to carpe the heck outta my Hawaii diem — it all started to catch up with me this week. I got scared. How do I balance it all? I have a lot of high hopes for dear ol' bloggie. She's come a long way, baby! How can I afford to NOT post regularly and neglect my sweet readers? I already feel like a failure when it comes to responding to your comments and emails; I mean I'm really behind. The worst part? I've read each and every one of them and commented in my mind. It's too bad I can't reply telepathically. Please forgive me. I promise to get caught up and soon! Not to mention, this little space fulfills me creatively; it's my release. As you've learned, I have a hard time deviating from my daily routine. Blogging has become a big part of it, and I know that everything in my routine is about to be thrown out the window for the next month. It will all be fine in the end, and I'll have plenty of time to devote to it once we get settled in Texas. I know all this "living" will provide gobs of inspiration for future posts and endless Type-A(shley) anecdotes. A month from now, I'm not sure how often I'll get to check in, but I promise you'll be part of the adventure. I truly appreciate your patience and continued encouragement.
EATING: It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Noosa Yogurt, especially the blueberry flavor — it's my favorite! Last Sunday, Flyboy and I snagged a few containers along with some fresh peaches and toffee granola at Whole Foods. All three of these ingredients are amazing individually, but my sweet tooth often gets the best of me in the evenings, and I couldn't help but wonder what they might be like if they joined forces in the form of a snazzy parfait. Cue the Hallelujah chorus! It's the most delicious snack EVER! It's so good, I think about it all day long. It's the highlight of my day. I'm actually starting to get fussy when I think about the idea of running out of fresh peaches and yogurt. I'm already plotting our next trip because I don't want to go a day without this wicked awesome combination.
WATCHING: It's a tad bit embarrassing, but we've been binge-watching How I Met Your Mother. A few weeks ago, I told you that we started the series earlier this year and we're smitten. Well, we're halfway through season 8, and it's getting SO SO good! Up to this point, we were getting discs from Netflix, but after we finished season 7 we went into panic mode and knew we couldn't wait for season 8's release this fall. We wanted to get all caught up for the final season. So out of desperation, we bought some magic cord to plug into the laptop and we purchased last season's episodes on iTunes. Our lack of patience cost us upwards of $70, but it was worth it! I can't remember the last time I did something as gluttonous as watch hours of a TV series. It kind of feels good to be an irresponsible boob-tube watching rebel! And since we're on the topic of the telly, how about Big Brother?! When Gina Marie pulled out Amanda and McCrae's keys this week, I couldn't help but grin devilishly. That was such a great moment!
LOVING: Spending $155 on a duffel bag seems a bit excessive, but I'm certain this Raleigh Weekender by Deux Lux would make living out of a suitcase for the next 6 months a whole lot sweeter (and cuter). Perhaps I can justify the purchase as a birthday gift to myself. We all know that birthday gifts are supposed to be frivolous and fun. This bag checks both of those boxes, and puts a little fun into functional. Gosh, why am I so good at being convincing?!
What about you? How are you feeling today? What are you up to?
P.S. I'm serious about the comments. I promise to get caught up! Your input makes me grin from ear to ear.
